Medicaid Coverage for Pregnant Women
Alabama Governor Kay Ivey has signed the Maternal Health Care Act into law, reports WSFA 12. The new law allows pregnant women to receive presumptive Medicaid eligibility for outpatient care while their full applications are being processed. This coverage lasts up to 60 days and is intended to improve timely access to prenatal care. Supporters say the law could reduce complications and improve maternal health outcomes across the state.
