Illinois Launches New State-Based Marketplace

Beginning November 1, 2025, all Healthcare.gov enrollees in Illinois will transition to a new state-based health insurance marketplace, reports Becker’s Payer Issues. This shift means that Illinois will no longer rely on the federal HealthCare.gov platform for individual and family health coverage enrollment. Instead, state residents will use a marketplace managed by Illinois officials. The state-based marketplace can also allow Illinois greater flexibility to implement policies and innovations that address gaps in coverage and affordability, ultimately working to reduce the number of uninsured and make health care more accessible for all.
