Ohio residents face high out-of-pocket costs and racial disparities in going without care due to cost, reports NBC4 ColumbusAccording to the report from the Health Policy Institute of Ohio, one in five Ohioans admitted to having a difficult time keeping up with paying their medical bills in 2023, and nearly one in five Ohioans lived in families with out-of-pocket health care spending greater than 10% of annual household income in 2021. The report found that, if disparities were eliminated, fewer Hispanic Ohioans would be unable to see a doctor due to cost.
