Anthem Foundation and Feeding America's Food is Medicine Initiative

The Anthem Foundation and Feeding America's Food is Medicine initiative is a year-long program that aims to connect people facing hunger to food distribution programs to increase access to healthy foods. Seven food banks around the nation will partner with hospital outpatient clinics to conduct universal food insecurity screenings and refer patients to community resources. Participants include:

• Atlanta Community Food Bank and Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia 
• Dare to Care Food Bank and local healthcare provider in Louisville, Kentucky​​​​​​​
• Feed More and VCU Health System in Richmond, Virginia​​​​​​​
• Freestore Foodbank and UC Health in Cincinnati, Ohio​​​​​​​
• Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana and Eskenazi Health in Indianapolis, Indiana​​​​​​​
• Houston Food Bank and Harris Health System in Houston, Texas ​​​​​​​
• Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee and Nashville General Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee 

The program aims to screen between 3,000 and 4,000 patients at each location where the program is in place in the course of a year.
