Alaska Governor Signs Prior Authorization Law

Governor Mike Dunleavy signed Senate Bill 133 into law this July, reports the Alaska Beacon. The new law requires insurers to notify patients within 72 hours about their authorization requests and, in cases of expedited requests, to notify patients within 24 hours. The law is intended to prevent delays in patient care and goes into full effect January 1, 2026.
