Additional $200 million in medical debt forgiven across Arizona

Another $200 million in medical debt has been wiped out for Arizona residents, bringing the total erased under the initiative to nearly $650 million, reports KJZZ Pheonix. The effort is part of a partnership between Gov. Katie Hobbs’s administration and the nonprofit Undue Medical Debt, which purchases past-due medical bills from lenders and cancels them for people earning up to four times the federal poverty level or whose medical debt is at least 5% of their income. More than 140,000 Arizonans have had their debts paid and credit bureaus notified.
