AI will soon have a say in approving or denying some AZ Medicare claims

Arizona will be one of six states participating in a new federal Medicare pilot that uses artificial intelligence to review medical claims and require prior authorization for certain services, reports Arizona Central. Beginning January 1, 2026, the six-year Wasteful and Inappropriate Service Reduction (WISeR) Model will allow AI to contribute to determinations of medical necessity before payment.
