$1.8 Million in Medical Debt Erased across Santa Barbara County, California

In partnership with the national nonprofit Undue Medical Debt. local groups across Santa Barbara County have erased $1.8 million in medical debt for county residents, reports the Santa Maria Times. Collectively the organizations originally set out to erase $1 million, but due to an outpouring of donations the group was able to surpass that original goal. As a result, 1,679 residents have had their medical debt forgiven.
