Colorado Codifies Access to Preventive Care Services

Colorado has passed two new laws to codify access to affordable preventive care and vaccination, reports Colorado Newsline. House Bill 25-1027 authorizes the state Board of Health to consider advice from leading medical groups, not just ACIP, when setting school vaccine rules. It was signed into law in April. Colorado lawmakers also passed Senate Bill 25-196, which allows the insurance commissioner to maintain coverage for state-regulated preventive services even if federal guidelines change. This law empowers the state insurance commissioner to maintain the coverage of state-regulated preventive measures, including vaccines, even if ACIP recommendations change.
