Iowa Adopts Medicaid Work Requirements
Iowa has passed a law requiring certain Medicaid recipients to work in order to keep their coverage, reports the Des Moines Register. The new rule applies to adults ages 19–64 who receive benefits through the state’s Medicaid expansion. Recipients must work at least 80 hours a month, with some exceptions. As of April, 183,000 people were enrolled in the expansion program. An estimated 32,000 could lose coverage starting in 2026 due to the new rules.
