Prior Authorization Reform Law

Nebraska has enacted the Ensuring Transparency in Prior Authorization Act, reports Becker’s Payer Issues. The law requires insurers to use a standardized form and digital tools to simplify the process for providers. It sets strict timelines: 72 hours for urgent requests and 7 days for non-urgent cases. Prior authorizations must be valid for up to a year in most situations. Insurers must also publish their requirements online and notify providers 60 days in advance of any changes.
