Oregon Extends Medicaid Coverage and Enhanced Benefits to More Young Adults

Oregon has extended its Medicaid program to cover young adults with special health care needs, according to the Oregon Health Authority. The Young Adults with Special Health Care Needs (YSHCN) benefits extend coverage to young adults ages 19-20 who meet income and health care needs requirements, ranging from physical, intellectual and developmental disabilities to complex mental or medical conditions. It also extends enhanced vision and dental services and the new health-related social needs climate and housing benefits to this population. The state estimates that 4,000 young adults will newly qualify for coverage and 15,000 current members will qualify for enhanced benefits.
