More Than Half of Texans Skip Medical Care Due to Cost in 2024

More than half of Texans skipped medical care due to cost in 2024 according to a poll, reports Lonestar Live. Conducted by the Episcopal Health Foundation, the poll found that 46% struggle to afford health care, with younger adults, Hispanic residents, and people with lower incomes reporting higher rates of struggling to afford treatment. More than 40% said they had problems paying medical bills in the last 12 months, and high cost of health care led 63% of Texas adults to skip or postpone some form of treatment in the past 12 months. This includes medical tests, prescriptions, dental checkups and mental health care.
