Federal Program Won’t Cover Medicaid Funding Loss to West Virginia Hospitals

Despite receiving up to $100 million a year for five-years under the Rural Health Transformation Project created by the 2025 Budget Reconciliation Bil (“OBBB”), West Virginia hospitals are expected to lose more than $1 billion annually in Medicaid funding when the Act’s cuts take full effect, reports West Virginia Watch. Hospital leaders warn that reduced resources could force service cuts or other changes that would affect patients’ access and potentially increase their out-of-pocket costs.
