Mountain Health Co-Op Exiting Wyoming

Mountain Health Co-Op will exit Wyoming’s ACA marketplace at the end of 2025, reports Cowboy State Daily. Serving more than 11,000 enrollees, the carriers departure leaves only two insurers in the exchange. Regulators warn the reduced competition could drive up premiums and weaken affordability: “With fewer people to share the burden of overhead for medical care facilities, it means every individual has to pay more to help keep the lights on, over and above whatever their procedures cost.” An unfavorable economy of scale is not the only thing that makes Wyoming’s health care market challenging, according to Wyoming Department of Insurance Deputy Commissioner Tana Howard.
