Medical Debt Now Void on Credit Reports in Washington State

Washington State has passed legislation making medical debt void and unenforceable on consumer credit reports, reports The Seattle Times. Under SB 5480, credit reporting agencies would violate the Consumer Protection Act by including medical debt on credit reports. This comes after a Biden administration rule introduced nationally in 2025 was put on hold under the Trump administration.
