Affordability Policy Memos

States play an important role in making health care more affordable for their residents. They have the power to pass and implement policies to curb excess prices, expand coverage, and limit cost-sharing for high-value care (among other interventions) and can exercise this authority to protect residents from high (and rising) health care costs in the absence of slow-moving and/or politically gridlocked federal action.

The Affordability Policy Memos take a deep dive into a state’s affordability policy landscape and provide recommendations for actions policymakers can take to reduce state residents’ health care affordability burdens.
